Qatar Advanced Biofuel Platform (QABP)
Partnership announced in January 2010 between Qatar Airways, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Petroleum, Airbus and Rolls Royce. QABP was established upon completion of an advanced biofuel market analysis performed by Verno Systems.
QABP leads activities in the following areas:
- Detailed engineering and implementation plan for economically viable and sustainable biofuel production
- A comprehensive biofuel investment strategy
- An advanced technology development program
- Ongoing market and strategic analysis
These activities are built on, and primarily motivated by, the objective of executing advanced biofuel projects – with Qatar Airways as the dedicated end-user.
QABP is structured so that it can be expanded to include additional projects, technologies, investments and partnerships globally.
QABP takes a portfolio approach to the development of advanced biofuels across feedstocks, technologies and geographies in order to meet short-, medium- and long-term goals.
